My guest today is Ali Dilks, a nurse practitioner with a special interest in menopause. Owner of Simply Menopausal, Aly runs her own menopause clinic in Leicester and today we’re discussing HRT. There’s so much controversy over hormone therapy and in this episode we aim to share facts and challenge some misunderstandings.
Aly qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1988 and as a midwife in 1992. She has had a varied career across a whole spectrum of specialities within nursing including working with Homeless Healthcare and has studied to Masters level in diabetes. The majority of her career has been spent in the field of women’s health and she has been working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a GP surgery in Leicestershire for the past 7 years.
Aly has several years experience in the field of menopause working in both the NHS and the Private Sector. She is a member of the British Menopause Society (BMS) and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and holds a letter of competence in both coil and implant fitting and removal. She has also completed The British Menopause Society Certificate in Menopause Care.
She is passionate about helping women to understand their menopause and offers advice and treatment to help with their symptoms.
She has had several articles published both professionally and in many journals and is a regular writer for Active Magazine and Liz Earle Wellbeing.
She has been actively involved in promoting menopause awareness and how this can be addressed in the workplace and offers a service to talk at corporate level. She has also been involved with teaching GP and pharmacists how to conduct a menopause consultation in a busy NHS GP practice.
